Covenant Church of Jesus Christ

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

History of the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ

As David and Angela Pitts started their day with the Lord as they always did, this day on November 18,1984 was remotely different. The confirming presence of God rested over them as the Lord spoke to Pastors David and Angela Pitts to accept the call to pastor a small group of believers. On this very special day, the chronological time line of God was set in place for the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ. The anointing of the Lord sealed the call as they worshipped in that defining moment their new beginning.

Pastors David and Angela Pitts had the ability to spread the love of Jesus in their local community in a way that was revolutionary. As Pastor David preached the Word, their numbers grew and grew. Through community evangelism, their efforts transformed the lives of the people and even greater growth took place. The Lord added to the church "daily such as should be saved." During this time, The Covenant Church of Jesus Christ called Napier Avenue in Macon Georgia their home.  The church family experienced a Prophet Elijah shift when the owners of the property made plans to sell  the property. Just as in 1Kings 17:7 when the brook dried up and caused Elijah to move to further his purpose, it was so for the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ. They were compelled to seek another place of worship.

Exactly one month later, the door was opened for the ministry to move to Menden Avenue. The building was larger and in another area of town. It was clear that God moved them to bless them and increase them even more. They were able to impact and reach more people in the Macon Georgia area.  As Pastors David and Angela continued to obey the voice of the Lord and continued to dedicate themselves to fasting and prayer, God's plan and purpose for the the Covenant Church continued to unfold. The Lord told them, as He told David, "build me a place to worship." With faith, confidence, and the assurance that God was with them they moved forward to build the Lord a house.

When the Lord speaks to a leader, He not only gives the vision but He also provides the resources to accomplish the vision. He certainly remained faithful to Pastors David and Angela Pitts as the church secured the necessary finances to build the new edifice in January of 1991. The promise! The promise! The promise ! God is faithful and He is true! They marched through the rain. They marched through the storm. They marched through the hardship.  They marched through opposition.  They entered into their promised land on 509 May Avenue at the corner of Mercer University. After a while, it did not take long to see that the need to expand was a must.  Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, an educational annex was added.

As the natural growth of the church expanded so did the church's spiritual growth.  The flock was fed with the unadulterated word of God. Ministers were birthed inside the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ.  From the caliber of his messages and the purity of his lifestyle, it was also evident that the Lord had spiritually elevated Pastor David Pitts from Pastor to Apostle. The Covenant Church of Jesus Christ of Terre Haute IN pastored by Pastors Clarence and Bobbie Debow was established. The Apostle also traveled to Zimbabwe and England carrying the gospel. Being deeply rooted in a rare and exceptional gift of faith, a profession of the mission of the Covenant Church was birthed. The Covenant Church of Jesus Christ is here to equip, educate, and empower men, women, and youth for the coming of Christ through the ministry of the word. This profession of faith came alive through the establishment of many ministries targeted to support the mission of the church.

The Legacy of Faith Continues…….

In February 2007, Apostle David Pitts, Sr. our dearly beloved Apostle went home to be with the Lord.  This was a tragic lost for the entire Pitts family and to the body of Christ. The Apostle had given all that he had to educate, equip, and empower men and women for the coming of Christ through the ministry of the word. Apostle David Pitts, Sr. was a servant of God that answered the call of God and lead a people into their promised place of destiny. The Legacy of Faith continued after Apostle David Pitts' passing.  The mantle of the Apostolic anointing rested on his wife. The Covenant Church began to see miracle after miracle break out in the midst of the congregation. God miraculously provided supernatural strength for Pastor Angela Pitts even through the passing of her husband and the transitional shift of the ministry.  She maintained integrity for the work of the spiritual growth of the people.  Pastor Angela Pitts ministered her first sermon on July 2007. The power and the anointing on her life increased to bring healing, deliverance, restoration, reconciliation. The prophetic anointing rested on her and lives were transformed by the word of the Lord. Due to Pastor Angela’s obedience to the voice of God to continue the work in which the Lord used her and Apostle David to begin, the Lord had a ram rustling in the bushes.  This ram was their youngest son Minister Brandon Pitts. God was grooming him to continue the Legacy of Faith his father started. Minister Brandon came from the backside of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Through great pain and difficulty, God has made Minister Brandon Pitts to be one of the most influential young men of the gospel this generation has ever seen.

Minister Brandon Pitts preached his first sermon in September 9, 2007. He delivered a word, “Willing to do His Will” . It was full of the power of God. His delivery was one with compelling conviction to call men and women to Christ. Minister Brandon Pitts heard the voice of the Lord speak to him according to 2Tim.3:14-15 and he has not deviated from the call since that day. Fully submitted to the call, he has made it his mission to continue the Legacy of Faith by equipping, educating, and empowering men and women for the coming of Christ through the ministry of the word. Through evangelism, he seeks to build people of righteous for generational success. Apostle David Pitts always told his congregation the story of the young man and the old preacher and his words still ring out through his son “CATCH ON FIRE AND THE WHOLE WORLD WILL WATCH YOU BURN!”.

Under the leadership of Founder Prophetess Angela Pitts &  Minister Brandon Pitts, the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ has experienced a dominion shift.  We are no longer in a place of mourning -we are in a place of momentum. Moving at the speed of God, we are gaining territory and souls for the Kingdom.  As we proceed to continue the Legacy of Faith that began over 23 years ago, we are at the right place on God's chronological timeline. Just as the Lord spoke in January 1991 for Pastors David and Angela Pitts to build the Covenant Church, He spoke again in 2002 to expand and enlarge the territory at the church's present location for a 3000 seat sanctuary.

Through the leadership of Pastor Brandon, we are currently in phase 2 of our expansion project and phase 3 is the actual construction of the facility itself. We are in the midst of a Nehemiah move of God. God has called us to rebuild the walls. Even as the Lord compelled Nehemiah to take on the assignment to rebuild the walls, we are ever so thankful that the Lord has called Pastor Brandon to take the assignment to shepherd the people of the Covenant Church of Jesus Christ. Just as Nehemiah would not allow Tobiah and Sanbalat to stop him, neither will we allow the distractions of the enemy to stop us from continuing the Legacy of Faith.  It is the endeavor of the Covenant Church to continue to rebuild the desire in mankind for the truth and the love of God. We will not cease to seek out the hurting, the wounded, the broken, the addicted, the abused, the abandoned, and the lost. Through the ministry of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, the five fold ministry, and the Apostolic anointing - it is the desire of Pastor Brandon and Founder Angela Pitts to empower every believer to operate in the miraculous power of God.   To date, we are in the finest hour in our history as we celebrate the installation and ordination of Pastor Brandon M. Pitts on September 10, 2008 Thirty-one years after his birth, the Lord set him into the office of Pastor. God truly knew his purpose from the beginning and the Legacy of Faith continues……………..
